Mumbai Monsoon Pest Prevention Checklist for Homes

Every monsoon, pest-related service calls in Mumbai rise sharply, and it's not a coincidence. Stagnant water, higher humidity and blocked drains create exactly the conditions mosquitoes, ants and cockroaches thrive in.

Start by checking planters, AC drip trays and any open containers on the terrace or balcony for standing water — these are the most common mosquito breeding spots in urban homes. Clear roof and balcony drains before the season starts so water doesn't pool.

Indoors, keep an eye on cardboard boxes and old newspapers stored in damp corners; they attract silverfish and cockroaches. Sealing gaps around window frames and door thresholds also helps keep ants and crawling insects from finding their way in during heavy rain.

A pre-monsoon general pest control treatment, done once in May or early June, significantly cuts down on the number of issues that show up once the rains set in.
